Monrobe Monday – OOTD – Elegant Evening Wear

I was asked by my company to represent the magazine I work for at a fancy awards ceremony last week in Johannesburg. Knowing that everyone really does go all out and dresses up to the nines, I asked my very talented friend who happens to be a well known Durban designer, Hanrie Lues to help make me something nothing short of amazing! She recently opened her very own studio space in Durban North recently and I was very chuffed to be one of her ‘clients’ and experience her studio space.

Not only is her studio conveniently situated in Durban North in Northumberland Place near Chelsea school but it is super spacious and a really comfortable space to discuss ideas, right through to final fittings.

I had some idea of what I wanted and after looking on Pinterest for plus size fashion evening wear ideas I sent Hanrie my ideas and we came up with this stunning, comfortable dress! I have a thing about exposing my shoulders so I knew that it had to have sleeves and instead of the usual fitted sleeves I usually go for, we decided to go for loose fitting, lace sleeves. As for colour – I knew I didn’t want to go the black route because everyone tends to go for black and I feel black is mysterious and over-rated. So this ash grey was a winner in my eyes! Such a stunning evening wear colour!

I chose to pair it with black and gold accessories. I wore black open sandals – Holsters of course and Clique Fashion Accessories – the cuff, the neckpiece and the clutch.
