What Maddie’s Reading – Pan Macmillan book review

Our favourite time of the month! This month we got in between the pages of these five great books from Pan Macmillan Children’s Books….

CHARLIE CHICK COLOURS
This colourful little book is great for toddlers to learn about their first colours. It’s a colour book with a twist. It encourages toddlers to guess what Charlie Chick’s favourite colour is, blue, green, red… a giant flap spreads open on each page of this four page book to find out which is his favourite colour.

Maddie loves a good peek-a-boo book and it is such a great tool in teaching them how to open a flap or turn the page on a book.

FIRST STORIES GOLDILOCKS & THE THREE BEARS and THE THREE LITTLE PIGS

7
These two First Stories books are a fun introduction to the classic story books. They encompass a variety of push, pull and slide scenes on sturdy pages to bring these classic stories of Goldilocks & the Three Bears as well as The Three Little Pigs to life with the most gorgeous illustrations.

Other classics in this range include; Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Snow White, Beauty & the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel, The Jungle Book, Zack and the Bean Stalk and Peter Pan.

And for the older kids:

THE WHAT THE LADYBIRD HEARD NEXT PLAY by Julia Donaldson & Lydia Monks
I am a HUGE fan of Julia Donaldson’s books. I just love her quirk and how she writes so when this arrived for Maddie I was super excited to give it a read.

Once again Julia Donaldson has done it again and has specially adapted her bestselling picture book “What the Ladybird Heard Next” into a play taking us on yet another amazing adventure. “The What the Ladybird Heard Next Play” has a clear layout and easy-to-follow script to ensure lots of fun at home or at school. The play book includes a complete play script, tips for bringing the play to life, how to make a swarm of finger puppet bees and lots of fun activities.

BIG STICKERS FOR TINY HANDS – DOWN ON THE FARM
Down on the farm is perfect for preschoolers to develop their fine motor skills of using the large easy-peel stickers (with easy-peel tabs) to create amazing pictures in the story book. The book is filled with fun activities, lots to spot and there is a huge fold-out scene to add to the fun. This 20 plus page sticker book helps children develop dexterity (a skill in performing tasks with the hands) and engage in creative play and learning new words as well as using their imagination in where to place the stickers.

Maddie loves farm animals so I know this large picture and activity book is going to be a HUGE hit when she’s slightly older… I might just bring it out for Christmas!
