I don’t know about you but the thought of travelling with a toddler in a car just 100kms away from home is a daunting task, let alone heading to the airport and travelling in a plane with a busy, on the go toddler.
I have seen so many of my mommy friends on social media post their various travelling onboard with a toddler and I am super inspired to put these to good use.
I have been doing a lot of research online in preparation for deciding where to go, how long the trip will take, where we should fly to, when the ideal age would be for Maddie to travel and all the other various factors.
I sat down wit a good friend recently who had just travelled aboard with her two-year-old and she offered me some sound advice. She suggested planning the trip around the price of the tickets – if you can get a Cheap flights to Johannesburg for example with an airline who cater for children then just book the flight and commit to the trip and have time to prepare your child mentally for the flight and hype them up for the exciting trip. Other factors include; planning what type of clothing the kids wear, what snacks and entertainment you will have for them is also key, oh and lots and lots of little gifts and activity books!
Luckily our friends at Travelstart helped me out with a very helpful infographic on useful tips and tricks to help me in our decision making and how to tackle on the daunting first flight as a family! I thought I would share the love and share it with you if you are in the same boat as me!
I also loved this short Q&A video featuring real South African parents who share their experiences and tips with us…
As a mom to a two-year-old who is about to take the leap of booking a plane ride for the first time with my daughter, I’d love to hear from the moms who have ‘earned their stripes’ in the flying with kids department. I’d love to hear your experiences and have you share your top tips with me before I hit on the flight bookings tab on the Travelstart website.
