Being Maddie’s Mom – Our Weekend in Pictures

I share so much of my life on social media. From things we love, products we have come across, places we go and things we see, but I often feel like I can only post so much on Instagram and I would love to show you more. More of real life, ‘this is us’ moments I capture every weekend. So this is my first, ‘Our weekend in pictures’ post and if they do well on this platform, I promise to do more. So if you love getting an exclusive peek into our lives as a family then pop me a message below or DM me on Instagram and let me know you want to see more.

So here it goes…

We’ve been super fortunate enough to have made a solid seven friends out of our antenatal course we did before Maddie was born and we literally see each other for a playdate every single Friday so that the kids can play and in essence grow up together. This Friday we got to meet the newest addition to our friends circle who I know will be joining these playdates very, very soon. My friend Monique welcomed her second son into the world just two weeks ago and Maddie and Monique’s older son Connor have been besties since birth and were born a week apart. We got to give precious Rory a cuddle on Friday afternoon.

Saturdays always start with an early morning drive to Salt Rock for Maddie’s swim lessons at Swim Baby. Maddie and my husband Brett get into the water at 8am sharp and the lesson is 30 minutes long. Maddie started the classes when she was just six months old and I have witnessed first hand the confidence and love she has for water grow through her lessons. Here is a pic of her diving. Such a champ!

After swimming we headed to Krispy Kreme for another Adventure Club. If you haven’t heard of Adventure Clubs before you can read more about it on a blog post I did about them last last year (here). This adventure takes the kiddies on a mini tour of the doughnut factory where they learn all about the delicious pastries, right from the dough to the sprinkles. The kids get stuck into glazing and decorating their own doughnuts and we even get to choose a box of doughnut to take home or eat in store while indulging in a drink of our choice. It is such an awesome outing and so worth the R120 odd that the adventure costs. If you keen to join the next one (they are generally held monthly) then download the Adventure Clubs app from the app store and book you and your child a place.

After Maddie’s nap over lunchtime we headed to the Umhlanga Promenade for a family walk and a chance for Maddie to ride her YBike. She has just recently mastered how to ride the push bike and she’s so proud of her riding skills.

We had to take advantage of the R99 combo deal Ushaka Marine World had this weekend. R200 to get in as a family to gain access to Wet & Wild, the aquarium and the dolphin show! Yes please! We camped out at the Kids ‘Jungle Friends’ area and we all had a jol! We went down two of the kiddies water slides and Maddie wasn’t sure if she was afraid or loved it! You decide for yourself 🙂

We splashed in the water, got sprayed on and had the best morning in the pools. We then headed to the aquarium for 30 minutes and then watched the dolphin show before Maddie got too tired and by 2pm we were in our car and Maddie didn’t make it out of the parking lot.

Thanks for reading… I hope you enjoyed reading about our weekend!

Have a great Monday!
