Being Maddie’s Mom – Our weekend in pictures

What a week! Last week was a manic one. For those of you who follow me on social media – you might have seen that I headed up to Johannesburg for the Caxton Awards. I work as a journalist for Get It Magazine who is part owned by Caxton and every year they throw an amazing award ceremony for their employees from all around the country. This year my team and a few other colleagues from our sister publication the North Coast Courier headed up early on Thursday morning for the ceremony which was on Thursday afternoon/evening. I was fortunate enough to be dressed by my beautifully talented friend and South African designer, Bianca Warren in a gorgeous custom made creation. I truly felt like a bombshell!

I returned to Durban early on Friday morning to what was the start of a beautifully cool weekend here in Durban. Man, I love Winter and the cooler weather. Needless to say I was exhausted from the early mornings and late night. I couldn’t wait to fetch Maddie from school on Friday having spent the night away from her. She was so excited and that night we went out for dinner as a family.

On Saturday morning Brett offered to take Maddie through to her swimming lessons by himself to allow me to further rest and get a bit of a sleep in before he fetched me at 9am for us to go through to Jump4Joy for a fun and exciting adventure with Adventure Clubs ( I have reviewed this awesome app before here which allows moms all over the country to sign up for awesome activities with their kids.

We had an absolute jol at the trampoline park! Maddie jumped for two hours straight and I managed to get a good workout out of all the jumping too! If you haven’t visited the trampoline park in Durban North before – I highly recommend it for you and your toddlers – it is such a fun outing for the whole family!

During Maddie’s mid morning nap, Kerryn from The Arty Party who is helping me with all of Maddie’s birthday party decor (which is this coming weekend!) dropped off my little box of goodies and I was blown away! Keep an eye on my Instagram page for a peek of what was inside the box. I spent a couple of hours doing birthday party prep and can share two pics with you without ruining the surprise!

On Saturday night we went through to Umhlanga Hospital to meet the newest little baby to our antenatal circle of friends, baby Jack. Maddie was so excited to meet her new friend through the window.

On Sunday we literally had a chill day. We popped out to Gateway to have coffee and cake at Chateau Gateau and did a spot of shopping – so many sales happening at the moment!

Oh and we caught up on some rest in Maddie’s new Tongue and Groove house frame bed! Moments like these…
