It is 10.26pm and I have just finished up with the last (or so I hope it is the last) of Maddie’s birthday party prep. There are just a couple of things I need to grab tomorrow afternoon from the shops and Brett and I will be driving through to Durban to fetch Maddie’s birthday cake and themed ice biscuits (EEEK! I cannot wait to show it to you all!). I am exhausted! Too much excitement for one day!
I asked today on Instagram if you would be keen to see a blog post on Maddie’s birthday in pictures and I was flooded with messaging requesting for me to do one so here I am, using my last bit of fight to share our special day with you.
Today was super special for our little Maddie. She was super spoilt and felt so loved. She definitely knew that it was her birthday and beamed with pride.
Brett and I both decided to take the day off work to be with her but decided to still take her to school in the morning as she has Monkeynastics at school on a Thursday morning and then she would have her birthday ring so we dropped her off at school at 7am and let her enjoy the time at school before Brett and I joined her at school at 10.30 for her birthday ring.
At Maddie’s school they ask for the parents to rather bring a 2L ice cream instead of cake as the kids only end up licking the icing off the cake and they rather enjoy an ice cream cone. So there was our Maddie in front of her ice cream tub with a number two cancel smiling from ear to ear!
Her school friends sang happy birthday to her, she blew out her candle and they enjoyed their ice creams. We then took her home to a mountain of presents and balloons and she was totally caught off guard!
She loved getting stuck into her presents and was super cute! Her favourite toys were her Mega Bloks and Baby Born Doll which she couldn’t wait to get stuck into!
After all the excitement of opening prezzies and playing with them for a short while she got into bed for a good two and a half hour nap before we woke her for her Thursday Shongalolo Shakers and there was great excitement as dad was joining!
After the class we headed to Gateway to pick up a cake Chateau Gateaux had gifted Maddie with in celebration of her birthday and then we met Maddie’s granny (Brett’s mom) for Maddie’s birthday dinner at Spur (cause no kids birthday is complete without the Spur birthday song!)
After dinner we headed home, bathed Maddie and put her to sleep in her new Minnie Mouse PJS from Cotton On – she was still beaming with pride!
My heart is so full and cannot wait to further surprise her at her birthday party on Saturday!
