Chances are you’ve heard the name Thule Sweeden. This brand needs no introduction. From their amazing strollers to their roof racks and their virtually indestructible bags, it is evident that it is a brand that has down right passion for helping active families and outdoor enthusiasts with products that helps them transport anything they care for safely, easily and in style so that they are free to live their active life.
In celebration of Father’s Day coming up this Sunday (17 June) I teamed up with Thule South Africa to treat Maddie’s daddy and my hero, Brett to two products I know he;
A. Needs so desperately,
B. Would absolutely love and
C. Use on a daily, weekly and monthly basis!
For those don’t know Brett is a software developer and spends his days in an office environment. He carries his laptop and gadgets around with him on a daily basis as he often has to bring work home. He also takes regular trips up to Johannesburg for work.
That being said I knew that there was two Thule products he would get such great use out of and he would look super stylish and fit the part of a business professional – whether it was to and from work or at the airport, he’d be travelling in style with the Thule Crossover 25L Backpack and the Thule Crossover 56L Rolling Duffel.
In order for me to give you a full review of these bags I had to give Brett his Father’s Day gift a month early (he didn’t complain) and we’ve had a good feel for these bags.
So if you are still looking for gift ideas for your dad, grandfather, husband, boyfriend or father of your kids, here is an awesome gift idea (in my opinion) that every dad or man (even if it isn’t for Father’s Day but a birthday or anniversary gift) that I know every man will love and get good use out of for years and years (cause that’s how long these bags truly do last for).
This has to be the ultimate durable laptop backpack kitted with dedicated electronics protection pockets and pouches. Available in black or blue the backpack is made of amazing quality dobby nylon and weighs just 0.88 kg (even with a laptop and other electronics placed inside, it is super light!).
Some of the features of the bag include; A padded, integrated laptop compartment that can hold up to a 15″ MacBook Pro or PC and a 10.1″ tablet. A feature I love about the range, they have a crushproof ‘SafeZone’ compartment for sunglasses and fragile gear which also includes a dedicated phone pocket. I wish my handbag had this feature! The SafeZone compartment can be locked or removed altogether for the extra space.
The backpack has carrying comfort and breathability due to its perforated EVA shoulder straps with mesh covering and padded back panel with air flow channels. The fabric is water-resistant further enforcing it to be the ultimate protective bag!
The organisation compartment keeps cords and other accessories at hand but out of the way. The are multiple grab-and-go handles allow for easy transport and it has two side mesh pockets for water bottles or accessories.
These bags retail for around R2000.
Thule Crossover Rolling Duffel 56L
I am in absolute awe of this wide-mouth, easy-access rolling duffel bag! I want my own one! Such a great size with so many different compartments for loading all your travel essentials!
Also available in black and a navy blue made from dobby nylon fabric (same look and feel as the backpack), it weighs just 3,5kgs – super light when you look at the wheels, buckles and handles – they are quality pieces of hardware!
Some of the features of the bag include; the durable bag is made from aluminum hardware and water-resistant fabrics. It has a durable exoskeleton and a molded polypropylene back panel to absorb the impact of rugged travel. Its tough, oversized wheels and ‘V-Tubing’ telescoping handles guarantee a smooth, steady and straight pull for years – even Maddie can testify to this!
The compression straps customise the bag to the size of your load and again this bag also features the removable and lockable crushproof SafeZone compartment which protects your sunglasses, iPhone, portable electronics, and other fragile gear. Great to take off and carry around when you check your bag in at the airport for safe keeping on your hand.
My favourite part of this bag – it has divided main compartment so that our men can finally keep clean-from-dirty, wet-from-dry, and work-from-play – without an excuse, we hope!
These bags retail for around R5700.
All in all, such great bags. Made to last. The quality of these bags are evident when physically picking up and getting a feel for these products. The workmanship is phenomenal and I know these are two work, play and travel bags Brett will use for years, if not the rest of his life!
