My Little Pony Live Show 2018 | Durban

There’s no greater feeling in the world than seeing your child’s face light up with happiness and pure awe! Let’s just say the My Little Pony Live Show with Maddie is up there with one of my favourite experiences with her to date!

Last week a massive pink box arrived for Maddie with a My Little Pony sticker on it and inside it was a pink balloon that had a tag that said ‘pop me’. Inside the balloon was an invite to the My Little Pony Live Show 2018 taking place at Rockwood Theatre, Sibaya which started on Friday (28 September) and ends on Tuesday (2 October).

To say we were excited is an understatement! Maddie loves My Little Pony and knows all the characters names by heart! She asked every single day this week when we are going to the show… so when Saturday arrived and we finally got to the theatre – Maddie was on cloud nine!

I’d thought I would share some imagery we snapped at the show and share a little bit about our experience (I promise – no spoilers for the show). So if you are headed to the show today (Monday) or tomorrow then you know what to expect.

VENUE:
First of all I have to give a big ups to Rockwood Theatre! I absolutely loved the venue. At first I thought it was strange having a kids show at a casino but the venue was so great! I often feel like shows, especially with kids can be crowed and a little too much. At Rockwood Theatre there was no queues, no hassles, so much space and it was so organised! It is a large theatre but feels intimate and a lot smaller than it is. The seating is at shared tables so it is super comfy and spacious around you. You can put your drinks and food on the table in front of you etc. It is really great!

FOOD & DRINK:
What can you buy these days for R10? Right? Well I was shocked to be told that the popcorn and slush puppies were R10 each! Unexpected at a production such as this. There is also a bar selling drinks and a small menu offering of pizzas and chicken strips.
Full card facilities available.

MERCHANDISE:
ToysRUs set up an impressive collection of My Little Pony merchandise at the back of the theatre. Priced from R50 to R600 odd – not any more expensive than what you would pay in the store. Full card facilities available.

THE SHOW:
All I will say is that Pinkie Pie, Twilight Sparkle, Applejack, Rarity, Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash along with their Equestria girls brought the My Little Pony magic to Rockwood Theatre with music, dance, storytelling and games and a whole lot of fun. Every kid in the theatre along with their parents were up, dancing and fully immersed into the show. The costumes are beautiful! The Equestria girls are sweet and captivating and even have the American accents which I thought was a brilliant touch in bringing the story to life. The show really allowed for plenty interactions with the kids and the audience in getting them to get up and dance, sing and clap along as well as pulling volunteers from the audience on stage to play along in the story. A very lucky Maddie was chosen to go on stage and she was so chuffed! It was a proud mama moment to see her so confident on stage with the ponies and Equestria girls.  The show was 45 minutes and was so cute and playful. It really did bring the magic of friendship alive and we absolutely loved it.

MEET & GREET:
After the show we got the opportunity to meet and great all the ponies and their Equestria girls. It was a little chaotic as you can imagine with very excited little girls and boys wanting to get close to their favourite ponies but we managed to meet all the ponies and give them lots of hugs and cuddles. Well worth the extra spend to meet them!

TICKETS:
There are still tickets available for today and tomorrow’s show. There are two shows a day, 2pm and 4pm and ticket prices range from R150 to R300 with the R300 option including a meet and greet after the show. They are available via Computicket.

If you are headed to the show tomorrow or Tuesday, have a great time! I know your kids will absolutely love it! Maddie is even more obsessed with My Little Pony now!

Until next time…
