Sunday Carvery at Brahman Hills

I love the Midlands. Any excuse to take a drive up to the Meander – I am IN! I now finally have a solid reason why we can do more day trips up to the Midlands… Sunday Carvery at Brahman Hills!

In celebration of the newly launched Sunday carvery buffet lunch at both the Stables Restaurant as well as Brahman Café, we were invited to take a trip up to try the offering and boy, oh boy – we weren’t disappointed by the offering!

Having visited Brahman Hills before (read the full review here) and enjoyed their 4-star accommodation and superb restaurants, situated in the Blue Crane Nature Reserve in the heart of the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands – we knew we were in for a treat. Spectacular food coupled with spectacular views for a spectacular Sunday at Brahman Hills

The beauty of Brahman Hills is its proximity to the N3. It is a relativity short drive from Durban. Arriving at Brahman Hills with hungry tummies we were greeted and ushered to our table overlooking the property before being offered a glass of complimentary wine or fruit juice which is included in the price.

Feasting our eyes on a number of different tables throughout the cafe – we couldn’t wait to get stuck into the mouthwatering selection of hot and cold dishes and desserts.

The cold selection was my favourite! The assorted of salads blew me away! From a garden greens with condiments and dressings; Bavarian potato salad; BBQ chicken and pineapple salad; smoked trout with traditional condiments and butternut and feta salad with peppadew dressing among many others; also soup of the day with artisan bakers’ breads with compound butters. Drool worthy!

The delicious hot selection comprised of rare roast grass-fed beef, roast free-range organic chicken, lamb bredie, grilled chicken with peri-peri sauce, seasonal sautéed vegetables, cream spinach, seared line fish with lemon beurre blanc and vegetable lasagne accompanied with traditional accompaniments.

And the perfect way to end the meal… with a dessert spread to die for! From malva pudding with crème anglaise to divine dark chocolate mousse, baked cheese cake, lemon meringue, pecan nut pie and seasonal fruit salad will definitely delight! And for those with the not so sweet tooth, there is a selection of award-winning cheeses, accompanied with preserves and crackers.

There was more than enough to satisfy every taste and the most demanding of appetites!  The best part – the price! R295 per adult – and for every adult booked, kids under 12 years of age eat free! Included is a free arrival drink (one per person) with  a choice of a glass of white wine, or red wine, or fruit juice, or Draught on tap – (500ml Castle Lite, Hansa and Happy Days Pale Ale). Well worth the price!
