Charlotte’s Nursery

Classic, feminine, florals and soft pastels… this was my ‘vision’ for Charlotte’s nursery when I first thought about what her room would look like.

With her room being very small in size – it is the smallest bedroom in the house, we didn’t have much room to play around with so I knew I wanted the room to be minimalist with just the key essentials – a cot, a compactum and a feeding chair… surrounded by beautiful touches of femininity that could easily grow with Charlie into her big girl room.

I knew I wanted one of the two walls in her room to have wallpaper from floor to ceiling and it would be florals which Live Print did for us. I toyed with the idea of doing a full wall of florals but decided to go with pink and an almost floral wreath. Against this wall would be her cot and nothing else. The wreath would almost ‘fall’ into the cot. Above her cot would have her name laser cut out of wood and it would be rose gold which we had made by Chalane’s Lifestyle Decor. We also had a wooden name plaque gifted to us by Mirah Design & print which is displayed at the entrance of her room.

We decided to go with the Jazz Cot from Happy Toddler Beds (read our full review of this four in one cot here) purely because of its versatility of growing with Charlie from a co-sleeper, cot, a toddler bed to a couch. This would save us a lot of money in the long run. I also loved the colour and it fit in beautifully with the look I was going for.

Inside the cot we went with a dusty pink sheet from Phrog Designs, our DockATot pod and toy arch, a hand knitted white blanket made by a family member as well as custom cot bumpers done for us by Little Hunny’s in a beautiful floral with my feeding pillow to match. Inside a few teddies, including Tommee Tippee‘s Ollie The Owl – a cuddly night-time companion, and a custom made birth scatter pillow gifted to us by Bokaloli.

Above her cot hangs another beautiful custom made floral mobile lovingly handmade by Dono Da Dio and a hanging canopy tent by Moo Cachoo in a beautiful sheer dusty pink pastel.

A playful touch to the nursery is Charlotte’s Le Toy Van unicorn rocking horse from Coral and Sage Kids. I just love how this beautiful wooden horse fits the soft colour palate so well and adds an element of girly fun!

Accompanying the horse, alongside Charlotte’s window is a small book shelf which I found on a second hand Facebook group, with four compartments which I thought would fit bits and bobs like toys, decor and books – beautifully without looking like clutter. On top of this shelf would sit her personalised letter night light box (which has come in handy as a dim light in her room during feeds) from Phrog designs with a dusty pink lamp I bought at MRP Home, her Young Living Feather The Owl oil diffuser from Anneen Henze as well as two wooden toys from Cotton On.

In the shelves – silicone blocks from Tiger Lily, a silicone teething toy from Silicone Depot and a crochet bunny from Laatlam. On the bottom shelf – a selection of books with book holders from Cotton On.

Positioned next to the shelf is my gorgeous nursing chair! A beautiful pristine white rocking chair The Classic from Comfy Mummy with neck pillow and ottoman. This classic wingback style chair with well-padded back and arms designed specifically for correct height when feeding baby has been a highlight in my nursery! Not only have I already spent hours and hours on it feeding Charlie but even before she was born I used to spend time each night sitting in it and marvelling in awe of her room imagining life with her.

On the chair I draped a custom made name blanket from Hansel and Gretel and my feeding pillow from Little Hunny’s on hand too.

Above Charlotte’s feeding chair are special pieces of art gifted to us from some incredibly talented local entrepreneurs including; a pom pom piece from Zoe Bird, a handmade rainbow by Bear and Babes as well as a framed birth detail poster from The Paper Rose.

Alongside the feeding chair is her beautiful change station from Phrog Designs in white with brushed brass rose gold envelope handles! This spacious piece of furniture (which can also be used in any room of the house once Charlie outgrows it) has six draws to fit all her bits and bobs – which I love! On top of the change station is our Bumbo Changing pad – I absolutley love the fact that it is made from luxurious high quality foam so it’s soft and comfortable for changing Charlie and can easily be wiped clean! Above it is Charlie’s Le Toy Van Petilou Baby Gym from Coral and Sage Kids – a solid baby gym made from natural rubber wood with smooth rounded edges. I love the cloud and mountain theme with colourful hot air balloons and jingle rattles in soft pastel and bright colours.

Also on the top of the changing station is a handmade yarn basket from Twine for all our Pure Beginnings products including wet wipes, bum cream, mosquito repellant and body cream. We also have a heater to keep her warm after baths and those nippy night time changes. Holding her nappies is her very nifty house nappy stacker from Phrog Designs – her nappies are pulled through the door opening! A fun and practical way to store her nappies! We also have a jewellery hanger which I received as part of a press drop which I have used as a stand to display her headbands.

A somewhat of a ‘feature wall’ above the change station are various pieces of very special artwork and shelves to display some decor pieces and some goodies.

The Curious Kitten created a beautiful custom made swing shelf to fit the decor of her room and it couldn’t be more perfect! On the shelf are handmade big sister and little sister teddies gifted to Maddie and Charlie by The Curious Kitten. Underneath the shelf is a piece of bespoke pregnancy ultrasound artwork created by Our First Art framed in a white frame. Alongside it – a rose gold mirror from MRP Home. Georgie Sue Boutique created Charlie a one of a kind initial wall hanging for her nursery and this special piece couldn’t fit her room more beautifully! Hanging up above the changing station is a custom made hair accessory holder for Charlotte’s hair clips from Poulaki Clothing.

We put two white floating shelves from MRP Home up above the changing station which we placed a large framed personalised nursery print from Phrog Designs – a boho floral name print. In front of this gold frame are two crochet rainbow plushies – a gift for Maddie and Charlie from Oh So Loved. Next to this is a spaghetti yarn basket from Sew Hooked with leather handles storing cotton balls. On this shelf is also the camera of our AngelCare AC327 Baby Movement Monitor with Video.

On the second shelf are three custom made wall art framed prints from Studio Italiana – C for Charlotte, I am a child of God and a bunch of florals to fit her theme. Included on this shelf is also her name puzzle from Dream Heart and rattles and toys from Tiger Lily Tots and Milk as well as her brush and comb, nail scissors and silicone baby bum spatula from Silicone Depot.

On the floor – we have her AngelCare Dress Up nappy bin – I absolutley love that this bin has a changeable fabric sleeve to ‘pretty’ up the bin! We are also using a beautiful spaghetti yarn basket from Sew Hooked as her laundry basket which sits just in front of her cot. I also have a basket of blankets rolled up in a basket I found at MRP Home which sits on the floor at her door alongside her cupboard.
